LETTER WRITING PATTERN :
Heading
The heading consists of the street address, the city and state(add postcode if there is one ), and the date.
2) In some countries the writer puts his name above his address but this is NOT the usual practice.
The writer's address is usually staggered-or indented-as the example shows. However, it may be written in the block form with each line beginning at same place as the line above. People who type their personal letters usually use block form.
3) Generally, a comma is put at the end of each line of the address and a full stop at the end.
4) The date is written below the address with a space left between the address and the date. The date nay be written in any of the fellowing ways.
27 July 199--
July 27 199--
27/7/9--
5) Salutation:
The salutation of the letter varies depending on how well you know the person to whom you are writing. The safest way is to use Dear followed by the name by which you normally address the person. For example, if you usually address a person James , you begin Dear James. if you call him Mr Lowe, you begin Dear Mr Lowe. Increasing degrees of affection cane be shown by other expressions: My dear Sue, Dearest Sue, My dearest Darling Sue. Note however, that the first word and all noun are capitalized
6) Note the comma after the salutation.
7) The body:
The body-or the main part of the letter-may begin below the comma of the salutation. Keep the paragraph for easier reading.
8) Closing
The closing also depends on how well you know the person to whom you are writing. To a member of the family ot to a close friend you may like to use: Your cousin, Your friend, Love, Best wishes, Fond regards, Your affectionately, etc Remember though, that the safest form is Your sincerely.
9) Signatures
This should always be hand written, never typed. Your first name or nickname name is sufficient in letter to friends and relatives. The envelope should be written in same indented style as the letter
